Villa Finale Hits the Road!

Recently, at one of our weekly staff meetings, we came up with an idea – field trips!  Since all of us are relatively new to San Antonio, we thought it would be helpful (and fun) to periodically visit other museums in the area.  We want to get to know other institutions in San Antonio – particularly ones that have some sort of relationship to Villa Finale and its collections.

We had our inaugural First Friday Field Trip earlier this month.  We visited the Witte here in San Antonio, where there is a special exhibition of the paintings of Julian Onderdonk.  We have 14 in our collection, so we all thought that learning more about the artist and seeing more of his paintings would be exciting.  The exhibit was beautiful, and I highly recommend it.

If you have any recommendations for future field trips, please let us know!  Speaking of trips, next week is the National Preservation Conference in Tulsa.  It’s hard for me to believe, but this will be my 8th conference.  Tulsa promises to be interesting, and Asleep at the Wheel is playing at the closing party.  Whoo-hoo!
